His sudden death has shocked the world and fans around the globe are mourning his passing, and celebrating the music influence that he shared over decades. Devastated fans who were expecting great things from his concerts to be held in London in July, are at a loss in more ways than one, the loss of the Concert not happening, the loss of Michael himself, and the dilema of what to do with their tickets. Critics and news crews are of course, disecting his lifes events, and searching for meaning and truth, and maybe scandal, in the different events that Micheal Jackson found himself facing. Good or strange, he has touched and influenced all of our lives in one way or another. When big events like this shock the world, does it not get you thinking? I know that it does for me. Do you start to think about your life, and what the meaning of your life may be, what influence you may have on others around you, whether it be a handful of people, or a whole lot more? Have you ever looked at your life, and thought about a legacy you would like to leave behind you, for your children or loved ones, or many more beyond that? Imagine being at your funeral, and looking back over your life. What would people be sharing about what they remembered about your life, and what influence you had on them? How would you have touched them, in one way or another? What difference would you have made? Then maybe focus on your life right now, in your relationships within your family, with your loved ones, your children, your parents and extended family, your friends and neighbours, with your God. Are all your relationships in good order, and if perhaps not, what could or should you do about them, while you can. We never know what is around the corner, what tomorrow holds. Many of us spend our lives in the past, worrying about things we have failed at, people we have hurt, or who have hurt us, or things we have messed up on. Some of us worry about the future, about our children, about the Recession, how we are going to make it through these tough times. How is our superannuation or share investments going to recover, to help us in retirement, how are we going to pay our bills if we have lost our job, or had our work hours reduced? How are we going to make our mortguage repayments, the list goes on and on. If we do find ourselves in a financial bind in these times, that can be pretty tough. The media speculates that Michael Jackson was doing the concerts in London, as he was in a lot of debt. Who knows, that may be the reason, or it may have been for his children, would be good to know that was the case. Being in debt can be pretty stressful, just for oneself, in relationships, if you have been there, you know how it feels. Your whole outlook becomes clouded with worry about your bank balance, of how to make ends meet, how you are going to manage to make more money, how you are going to pay the bills, and get ahead. If only there were a better way, maybe with a job you don't like, or trying to find a job in a market with higher unemployment. Life can be tough and trying, we all know that, and we can choose to dwell on these things that bring our energy and mood down, or we can choose to look at life in another way. We can regret the past, or worry about the future, or we can choose to live in the Present, to appreciate the day that we have been blessed with, and the people that we can share it with, even be it at work. We can count our Blessings, enjoy the fresh air and blue sky, or rain, treasure the beauty of a flower blossoming, or the greeting of a happy dog, or the smile of delight on a child's face. We can rejoice at the energy and health we enjoy, and the food to nourish us, and learn to be grateful for the Blessings in life, and enjoy the Gift of the Present. So as we reflect on Michael Jackson's lifes highs and lows, let us focus on the highs, for the times when he let his light shine out to the world, to bring joy and energy, song and dance, and to decide to let our lives be lived with a song or a dance, to let our lights shine for the world to see, whatever that means to us, to make a difference to another, that is what life is all about. To choose not to be bound by things in our lives, but to choose to live a live of freedom and peace and joy, whatever that means to you. Many many people go through life, just accepting what life hands to them, and not expecting anything better, not really believing there could be another way, or another choice in life. The only thing that I can even remotely compare my feelings to, is the day that Jimi died, Sept. 18th, 1970 (a date that has been etched in my heart for 39 years now). And now June 25th, 2009 takes its place along side Sept. 18th, 1970. No matter what the press has said or may say..... and no matter what we choose to believe about Michael Jackson, there is no dispute about his extraordinary talent, artistry and his lonely but royal place in modern musical history. The whole world may not realize it yet, but the music world has just suffered its most tragic loss since the death of Jimi Hendrix. We have also lost the best "American ambassador" for WORLD PEACE, that we have ever had! For those of you who have been following our blog, you may have seen our post at 8:54 this morning, that paid tribute to the honor and memory of the great guitarist, David Williams (who was Michael's guitar player). We featured a photo of David and Michael performing together in Bangkok (1993). Little did we know that just 4 hours later, we would be shocked by the news of Michael's death. I was so stunned that my son and I decided to sit and watch the HBO Michael Jackson concert from Bucharest, Romania (a concert event that transcends every "live" performance ever seen in musical history). His Dangerous World Tour was undoubtedly the largest and most professional production that the world has seen to date. Michael's enormous talent, coupled with the world's best (production, musicians, dancers and singers), puts him on a pedestal that is way too high for any other superstar to ever imagine attaining. Why is it that genius talent always seems to be so short-lived? We were all so looking forward to Michael's comeback concerts in London next month. He paid an extraordinary price for his fame and recognition as the "King of Pop" and he reached a status that few humans have ever achieved. Michael is arguably the most recognized person on the planet. When you're the top "gun-slinger", everyone wants to shoot you down (for one reason or another). The word that comes to my mind is "appreciation". I think many of us failed to really appreciate what Micheal has done for music, for dance, for charity and for world peace. His legacy is boundless and he will be remembered on this planet for centuries to come. Every time a genius performs, he gives each of us a little piece of his heart and soul. June 25th will forever be etched in our minds as the day the King of Pop, Michael Jackson has passed. The world sits today with heavy hearts as we realize our beloved pop icon has gone so suddenly. MJ was rushed to the hospital yesterday afternoon after a 911 emergency call from his Holmby Hills home. Michael had suffered cardiac arrest and when the paramedics arrived, he was found with no pulse and was unresponsive. Sources say that Michael was dead already when help arrived. He was rushed to UCLA Medical center where physicians tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful. This news came as a complete shock to the world as MJ had just announced a series of 50 concerts in London's O2 Arena that was scheduled to begin on July 13th. It was said that tickets were sold out completely in under an hour. Michael is survived by his three children, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II. While Michael is gone from the physical world, his legacy is sure to surpass the ages. While most of his career took off way before the digital world we live in today, MJ had the top five album downloads on iTunes store and seven of the top 10 this morning.
